I founded this summit after personally seeing limited opportunities for school students to get a chance to visit the State Capitol during their high school years. If opportunities do arise, there are competitive application cycles or a limited amount of time for someone to visit the state capitol. Through the development of this summit, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Association of Washington Student Leaders, I wanted to provide this opportunity to connect high school leaders with elected officials, professional advocates, and get a chance to experience the legislative process at the heart of the Washington State Capitol.
